Dr. Myerson currently is involved in ongoing trials evaluating radiation protectors, 3D treatment planning and pharmacogenetics in the management of rectal cancer.
In hyperthermia, Dr. Myerson is involved in a National Institutes of Health-funded Phase III trial evaluating the efficacy of simultaneous thermoradiotherapy for management of subclinical disease in high-risk breast carcinoma. NIH funding is also supporting research on the development of new ultrasound hyperthermia devices and noninvasive thermometry techniques. He also is involved in an ongoing collaboration with the Department of Radiology’s Division of Radiological Sciences evaluating the effects of mild hyperthermia on tumor hypoxia.
