Jay P. Heiken, M.D.
DEPARTMENT OF Radiology
Keywords: cancer, CT, MRI
Dr. Heiken’s clinical interests are in the use of abdominal imaging techniques to evaluate diseases of the gastrointestinal and genitourinary systems. Much of his research has dealt with assessing the effectiveness of computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in detecting and staging gastrointestinal and genitourinary tract cancers. An important goal of his research is to develop and test improved imaging methods for assessing abdominal and pelvic diseases. One recent focus of Dr. Heiken’s research has been assessing and optimizing methods of intravenous contrast enhancement for body CT. Currently he is interested in advancing the applications of multidetector spiral CT.
