Health effects of radiation. Social policies that affect the use of ionizing radiation are influenced by scientific, political and social forces. Rational social policy requires understanding of these three forces. Radiation accidents provide unique information about the effects of radiation in humans. They also have unique social and political consequences.

Health care policy. Medicine is rapidly changing. Maintaining the quality of patient care while at the same time controlling health care costs is an important goal.

Clinical nuclear medicine. A number of new radiopharmaceuticals are under development. As part of the development process, they have to be studied in clinical trials.

Participant in the multi-center PIOPED II Study. The study is designed to determine the diagnostic accuracy of spiral CT in the diagnosis of pulmonary embolism.
