My training in perinatal epidemiology is used to study the efficacy and safety of medication used to arrest preterm labor and the safety of vaginal birth after cesarean section. We have also explored the genetic predispositions to spontaneous preterm birth and the role of gene-environment and gene-gene interactions in causing spontaneous preterm birth. Most recently, we have begun to assess the relationship between treatments for cervical dysplasia and spontaneous preterm birth.
