The Urologic Clinical Study Center provides comprehensive outpatient facilities to perform clinical studies in patients with benign and malignant diseases of the prostate, bladder and kidney. The Clinical Study Center has participated in more than 40 collaborative multi-institutional trials over the last five years. Currently there are 10 active protocols sponsored by the National Institutes of Health, cooperative cancer groups, private foundations or pharmaceutical corporations. The center is staffed with experienced nurse coordinators, recruiters, data entry/clerical personnel and a biostatistician. The center has developed and implemented a quality assurance program that includes a medical record abstractor, a nosologist and a certified tumor registrar. Equipment necessary to perform many urologic studies, including ultrasound urodynamic and uroflowmetry equipment, as well as computing capabilities for remote data entry and optical scanning, are available.
